A One Day Conference helping you

lead your family with confidence and joy

parenting is hard

We are with you

As parents, our story is caught up in everyday acts of go. We drive, eat, show up, volunteer, sit on the sidelines, cheer, listen, redirect – and it adds up. It adds up to busyness, a full calendar, and a sense that time is running out. Someone said for parents, the days are long and the years are short.

To recapture the joy in parenting, to gain the confidence that we’re doing it right, to lead with a sense of calling in our role and most of all, to see the dreams we have for our kids become reality – we need perspective. But how do we get there?

Crucial Conversations: Navigating tough topics with confidence

Kids ask tough questions, but how DO we help them face everything from playground bullies, to active shooter drills, to peer pressure? Learn how in this discussion based conversation.

God’s Gold – Trauma-Informed Families

Research reveals that childhood trauma, toxic stress, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affect brain science and can be linked to health issues, school failure, substance abuse, mental illness, and adult health problems.  The Good News is that God can heal our trauma and pain and use it to refine us as gold. It turns out that the single most effective “vaccine” to ACEs is one loving, safe adult in a child’s life.  How can we be that adult in our own kids’ lives?

Marriage Beyond Parenting

We all want our marriages to be strong and healthy enough to not only survive until then, but thrive throughout the parenting years and beyond. Join this discussion on how to create a healthy marriage in the midst of parenting.

From Parent to Grandparent - Embracing Your Changing Roles

As your kids leave the nest and begin having their own children, your role evolves and changes. You transition from parenting a child to being a parent of an adult, and then a grandparent of your own child’s children… and suddenly the relationship dynamics shift. How do you create and support healthy boundaries in multi-generational families?

Conference Keynote Speaker

Michael Poorman

Michael was born and raised in Indiana and is proud of it! On top of being a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan, he is also known to enjoy a donut burger from the Indiana State Fair. After graduating from Taylor University (Upland, Indiana) with a degree in Education, he spent some time living in Indianapolis with his wife Alison, daughter Maddie, and son Caleb. Since leaving Indianapolis, Michael has worked at Parkview Community Church (Glen Ellyn) as the Children’s Pastor, overseeing all the programming and activities related to children from birth through fifth grade. In his roles as both a parent and a pastor, Michael leans on Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Michael uses his platform to help adults and kids of all ages find their purpose!

Childcare FAQs

When should I drop off/pick up my child?
Conference childcare rooms will open at 8:45. Please plan to pick up your child by 3:15pm.
Do I need to pack food for my child?
We will provide a morning and afternoon snack as well as a lunch from Chick-Fil-A. If your child has specific dietary restrictions or preferences, please plan to pack them their own snacks/lunches. For infants and toddlers, we encourage you to send bottles, sippy cups, etc.
What if my child is crying inconsolably, has behavior issues, has an accident, etc?
All parents will be asked to provide a cell number so we can text you if needed.
What safety and security measures will be in place?
  • Each child will check in and receive a security tag with a unique child ID number, and their caregiver will receive a corresponding pick up tag that must be matched to the child tag at pick up.
  • Our childcare staff has been trained, background checked, and gone through a security interview. Each room will have a minimum of 2 childcare workers, at least one of which will be 18 or older. Our Childcare Coordinator will also be onsite to supervise and assist our childcare team.
  • Each room will have a radio so they can call for assistance and communicate with staff in the building.
What should I bring for my child?
If your child is in diapers, please pack enough diapers for the day as well as a change of clothes. For preschoolers, please pack a change of clothes in case of an accident. For preschoolers and elementary aged-children, please pack weather appropriate clothing, as we will plan to take kids outside if the weather cooperates.
Who can I contact if I have specific concerns or questions?
Email our family ministry team ([email protected]com).
