Care Ministries
Counseling & Mentoring
Financial Counseling
The Financial Counseling ministry involves working with individuals or couples who want to improve their financial situation or habits. We can help people in numerous areas, such as putting together budgets, designing strategies to pay off debts, deciding how much they can spend on a home, or planning for college or retirement. We are all stewards of God’s provision in our lives. In Christ, we are called to help people know how to please God in their financial dealings.
Better Marriage
Looking to have a Better Marriage? Our team is passionate about walking alongside you and your spouse on the pathway toward health. We believe no matter where you are in your marital relationship, we can all have a better marriage.
Training and Classes
We offer classes twice a year to encourage marriages.
Retreats/Events
Annually we offer a Better Marriage Couples Retreat or Event – see www.better-marriage.com for event details.
Mentors
Our team of trained mentor couples are willing to meet with you to discuss issues and help you learn tools to self-coach your way to a Better Marriage. This ministry has helped couples from pre-married to veteran marriages learn the secrets to healing and health.
Pastoral Counseling
Meeting up to three times to help people discover spiritual solutions to issues where they may have hang-ups. When needed referrals to ministries or counselors are given.
Spiritual Direction
Many people get stuck in their spiritual growth plan or do not have a plan to move forward. Our team is willing to meet with those who need some coaching to help move towards Jesus again.
Resources & Recovery
Prayer
In Matthew 21 Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” We want to encourage and support prayer within the body here at Northeast. We want people to develop an intimate relationship with God and each other. At Northeast, we desire to enlist, educate, equip and encourage our body here to devote themselves to prayer, knowing it is powerful and effective. Dependence on God through prayer is foundational to our church and we want to provide multiple opportunities for dependence on prayer to be fostered.
Life’s Healing Choices
We all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups. This 9-week study focuses on finding God’s pathway to wholeness, growth, spiritual maturity, joy and healing. Journey through eight choices on the road to recovery with a small group of men or women and find restoration — and hope! — in God’s truth for your life.
Grief Share
GriefShare is a special twelve-week support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. This group will be led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead.

Compassion & Visitation
Direct Care
There are certain times when people need both financial help and encouragement during a difficult time. The direct care team exists to evaluate and assist in such situations. In Christ, we are called to come alongside, encourage and assist people who are struggling through a difficult situation in their life. This team can direct you to available community resources for employment, housing, food, medical, mental health, and other services.
Emergency Response Team
We help people who are going through natural disasters, emergency crisis situations, or catastrophic loss. Northeast is a preapproved Lighthouse Church with Samaritan’s Purse, a nationwide disaster relief ministry. If a tragedy hit Winnebago County, we are ready to open our doors and welcome workers here.
Hands and Feet – many people from this team have a heart to help people in need when requested with things like yard work, painting, or minor repairs.
Jail Visitation
If you have a loved one in the county jail, we have access to visit them and care for them.
Barnabas Ministry
The Barnabas Ministry is a ministry of encouragement, a method of connecting those who are no longer able to attend Northeast, either as shut-ins or temporarily because of illness.
Hospital Visitation
Our team visits people who are in the hospital to encourage them and give them the hope of God’s Word. Our team is glad to meet people before a procedure to pray with them or in an emergency situation as well.
Cancer Conquers – Cancer Support Group
If you have cancer, we have trained cancer care ministers available to walk the difficult path to healing. There is a Cancer Support Group which meets on the second Saturday of the month at 9am.
International
International Ministry Team
We welcome people from other countries and help support their transition to America. Our team has a passion for those who have been called away from their homelands to live as sojourners in a new place. They are intimately involved in helping the Internationals understand our culture and how our society functions, this is key to their success.
English as a Second Language
Northeast offers free English classes for adult English learners three times per year, and each session is open year-round, so you can join at any time.
