What
is a Life Group?
A life group is a gathering of people who are striving to
glorify God by meeting together on a regular basis to share
life's experiences, study the Bible, and serve one another.
|
Why
join a Life Group?
Small group ministry is a concept modeled within the New Testament.
Jesus was involved in Life Group ministry when He called twelve
men to share His life and ministry. The early church continued
the use of small groups by meeting in homes to minister to
one another, to exercise their spiritual gifts, and to learn
to become like Christ. People saw the love and compassion
demonstrated in these small groups, and as a result, were
drawn to Christ. |
How
long is a Life Group meeting?
Each group is different, but most Life Groups meet anywhere
from ninety minutes to two hours. |
Where
and when do Life Groups meet?
Again, each group is different. Where and when depend on the
host and leader of each group. |
Can
I change groups if I want?
Absolutely! If the first group you attend does not work out
for some reason, we encourage you to connect with another
group that will meet your needs. |
What
is the commitment?
When you join a life group, you will be asked to agree to
a group covenant in which you will commit to attending the
group meetings and participating in the lives of the other
group members. |
What
do you do in the group meetings?
Most meetings include spiritual discussion, prayer and a social
time with refreshments. |
What
will we study?
The majority of our groups use the weekly "Life Group
Discussion Questions" that are tied to Northeast's current
sermon series. However, our groups have the freedom to use
different curriculum if it will better meet the needs of the
group members. |
What
kind of groups are there?
Most of our groups are made up of a variety of people in a
variety of life stages. However, we do have a few "specialty"
groups such as our Christian 12-step support groups, singles
groups, women only groups, and young families and teens groups. |
What
about childcare?
Each group is different in the way it approaches childcare.
Some groups do not provide childcare, others will hire a sitter
with all contributing to the expense, and others meet during
Awana's - which is our children's mid-week program that takes
place on Wednesday night at Northeast. |
