Welcome to Northeast!
We've come a long way!
Starting in 1956 with a few faithful families who desired to
share Christ's love with others, Northeast has grown, moved
location, grown some more, and evolved into a body of believers
who are becoming the kind of "intentional" disciples
who are daily actively pursuing the heart of Jesus. Simply
put, we want to first and foremost be passionate lovers of God
whose by product is loving people.
Our
Weekend Services
We have five worship services every weekend. Four on Sunday
morning and one on Saturday night. Saturday night is our modern
worship service at 6:00pm. Sunday morning consists of a traditional
service at 7:45am, two contemporary services at 9:00am and 10:45am,
and a high-energy student-lead service at 10:45am. All services
on a weekend exist to encourage people to love God. Each has
a consistent biblical message that is shared by our team of
teachers. Sunday morning attire is casual and friendships are
nourished throughout our hallways and at our café area
were you can get a cup-a-joe or a specialty beverage throughout
the morning.
Our
Life Groups
Because we at Northeast believe that spiritual transformation
and accountability best occurs in a small group environment
we encourage everyone to get involved in a Life Group. Life
Groups are small groups of people who meet all over around the
Rockford area throughout the week to encourage each other to
be intentional disciples. These groups help a large church be
more personal and accountable. So, to really help Northeast
feel like home, finding a Life Group is an integral step for
those who are part of the Northeast family.
Our
Children's Ministry
Northeast's children's ministry is designed to shower God's
love and care on our children as they learn about the truths
of the Bible in creative and experiential ways. It's also a
place for our children to learn how to build strong relationships.
Learning how to build relationships is key because if a child
can begin to build a strong relationship then they can begin
to build one with Jesus! To create this kind of an environment
we have a team of volunteers who let Christ shine through them
through biblical storytelling, arts, crafts, dramas, and worship.
This takes place on Sunday mornings, at Awana Clubs, Vacation
Bible School, Summer Camps, and at Friday Nights Out.
Our
Student Ministry
Our student ministry exists to reach non-believing students,
to help students mature in faith, discover their ministry, and
honor God with their lives. The student ministry involves 4:24
- the student-lead service on Sunday morning, Refuge - a mid-week
Junior High gathering, small groups, retreats, and missions
trips. All these are the tools that are used to help the students
become intentional disciples of Jesus. Our ministry tries to
help the students learn to feed themselves spiritually so that
when they move on from here their faith will be of lasting nature
and not simply tied to Northeast.
Our
Missions Partnerships
Through the past 3 years we have taken a different approach
to missions. Instead of just check writing to many different
missionaries and organizations around the world, we decided
to get personally involved. We decided to partner with a church
in the Dominican Republic and a church in Haiti. We have been
taking trips, as many as 3 per year, to our partner churches
to encourage them and help hands on in any way they need assistance
- either with construction, training, or events. Out of these
partnerships was born a feeding program that daily feeds around
140 Dominican children in Los Guandules. The support for this
comes directly from those at Northeast. This hands-on model
has worked so well overseas that we are in the process of using
this partnership model for opportunities locally here in Rockford
as well as domestic opportunities.
